Spelling menu information
Each day, the students have a choice for how they would like to complete their spelling homework.
Listed below is an explanation of each option on the Spelling Menu found inside their spelling book.
*Spelling words can be found on the back of the LA home letter, or written in your child's planner*
Write 10 of the spelling words in a different color with crayons.
Write 10 of the spelling words using fancy letters.
Ex. swirly letters, bubble letters, block letters, etc.
Draw a picture. Hide your spelling words within the picture.
(Not so hidden that I can't see them when I check your homework)
Write just the first letter of the word. On the next line, write the first two letters of the word. On the line after that,
write the first three letters of the word. Continue this pattern until the entire word has been spelled.
Create a t chart. Sort the words based on the categories given in class.
Example: Categories "short a" and "short i"
Short A Words Short I Words
Choose 5 spelling words from the list. Write a sentence with each word.
Be sure to start each sentence with an uppercase letter and end each sentence with a punctuation mark.
Ask a family member or a friend to read your spelling words out loud one at a time.
Practice writing each word to prepare for the spelling test tomorrow.
Three Times Each
Write each of the spelling words three times in a row.
